Opening New Doors for Scootboots in Japan

Exploring Opportunities, Expanding Relationships & Supporting the Barefoot Movement Abroad

We’re thrilled to share highlights from Annette Kaitinis, our Co Founder & Brand Ambassador's recent visit to Japan, where she spent a week exploring opportunities to grow the Scootboot brand and support our valued Japanese stockist, Shinsuke Kitagawa.


This exciting trip offered powerful insight into the Japanese equestrian market and showcased how far the barefoot conversation has come even in countries with deeply traditional approaches to hoof care.

 

Meeting Stockists, Farriers & Breeding Leaders

A standout highlight was Annette’s visit to Shadai Stallion Station, one of the most prestigious Thoroughbred breeding operations in the world. 


Home to elite stallions like Equinox and Kitasan Black, Shadai has been using Scootboots to protect their stallions from the region’s abrasive volcanic soil.


The team was incredibly open and enthusiastic about learning more. Annette introduced the Adjust and TheraRide models, personally fitting several stallions and providing on-hand support to improve comfort and fit. 


She also showcased MultiPurpose Gaiters, which impressed the team as a solution for short-term protection.

 

Barefoot Movement in Japan: Early Days, Big Potential


While Japan’s recreational riding community is still largely unfamiliar with barefoot care, the door is open for positive change. Annette’s visit confirmed that the TheraRide and Adjust models are ideally positioned to support horses with rehabilitation needs and hoof conformation challenges.


The team at Shadai is already experiencing improvements as their farriers work with Scootboots and adapt trims to enhance fit and performance. And with nearly 800 breeding facilities in the Hokkaido region alone, the potential for Scootboot to support hoof health on a large scale is incredibly exciting.

 

Building Relationships That Matter


Throughout the trip, Annette met with farriers, riding school managers, and prospective partners. 


While hoof boots are still a new concept in Japan, the interest is growing particularly in the rehabilitation and breeding sectors.


She also had the chance to connect in person with Shinsuke Kitagawa, Scootboot’s passionate stockist in Japan. 


Together, they visited Northern Star, a state-of-the-art training and equestrian tourism facility where many OTTBs are already barefoot. 


Shinsuke’s commitment to educating farriers, equestrian centres, and riders is paving the way for Scootboot to thrive in this market.

Shinsuke Kitagawa
Japan’s Barefoot Trailblazer

From showjumping heights to national hoof care advocacy, meet Shinsuke Kitagawa Scootboot’s dedicated stockist in Japan.


Shinsuke is more than a stockist, he's a champion of progress in Japan’s traditionally shod equestrian culture. 

A former 1.4m showjumper, Shinsuke transitioned into retail with a mission: to improve the wellbeing of horses through mobility, comfort, and education.


A Mobile Model for Success


Based in Japan, Shinsuke runs an online store and operates a mobile business, attending dressage and jumping competitions across the country. Alongside his colleague Yukari, who manages international accounts, he has steadily built relationships with farriers, breeders, and competitive riders.


Among the clients Shinsuke supports is one of Japan’s most prestigious Thoroughbred operations, Shadai Stallion Station, where Scootboots have been introduced as a hoof protection solution for high-value stallions.

His involvement at this level reflects both his professionalism and the growing trust in Scootboots within elite breeding environments.


Market Challenges, Honest Advocacy


Shinsuke has played a crucial role in educating his network about the Scootboot range, particularly the Adjust and TheraRide models, which he introduced to both Shadai staff and local farriers. He’s also been transparent about the challenges: underrun heels, improper trimming, and low barefoot adoption among riding schools.


Yet, rather than see obstacles, Shinsuke sees opportunity. He’s made it clear that before expanding Scootboot into other breeding stations, it’s essential that Shadai’s experience becomes a success story.

    As your business grows, you’ll move through the Silver, Gold, and Diamond tiers. Each new level unlocks greater rewards and deeper partnership opportunities.

  2. Choose Your Rewards


    Each time you reach a new tier, you’ll be invited to select rewards designed to support your growth and reflect your goals.

  3. Enjoy Ongoing Support


    We work alongside you to deliver the rewards that will make the biggest impact for your business and your customers.

  4. Advance at Your Own Pace


    There are no deadlines or sales pressure, just recognition of your dedication and success as it happens.

Scootboot pays for all reward activity, either through direct payment to third-party providers (such as magazine publishers or printers), or by reimbursing Stockists for approved partial event payments via invoice (labelled as “Event Participation Costs”).



All reward spend must align with the deliverables outlined in your ScootBooster proposal. Unused rewards expire at the end of the program year and cannot be carried forward. Scootboot reserves the right to adjust allocations where needed.

  1. When you reach a new tier, we’ll send you a personalised ScootBooster proposal.

  2. Fill in the official selection form provided with your tier welcome email.

  3. Share any requested files (e.g. logos in vector format) so we can create your materials.

  4. Our marketing team will confirm what’s included and begin implementation!


Most rewards are fulfilled within 4–6 weeks but may be scheduled over 12 months to align with campaign opportunities.

ScootBooster reward eligibility is based on your net wholesale spend with Scootboot, calculated in Australian Dollars (AUD) between 1 July and 30 June each year. For international Stockists, currency conversions are calculated by the Scootboot team at the time your reward package is prepared and are subject to exchange rate fluctuations.

Scam Alert

How Email Spoofing Works and What You Can Do

We’ve recently received a few reports of suspicious emails appearing to come from Scootboot team members , including what looked like a message from our CEO, Cheryl. We want to take a moment to explain how this kind of scam works and what to watch out for.


 What’s Happening? 

This is a type of email spoofing, where scammers fake the “From” name to make an email look like it’s coming from someone you know even though it’s not.

  • The email address itself is not from our official domain (e.g., it might be from something like scootboot@outlook.com instead of @scootboots.com).

  • The name might show as “Cheryl Grey” or “Scootboot Accounts” — but it’s only the display name being spoofed.

  • These emails usually ask for urgent action like paying an invoice, clicking a link, or sharing sensitive information.


How Can You Spot It?

Before responding to any email:

  • Check the full sender address, not just the name.

  • Look for spelling errors or odd phrases.

  • Be cautious of unexpected attachments or links.

  • Contact us directly if you’re ever unsure!


What We’re Doing

  • We’ve reviewed our systems and confirmed that no internal accounts have been compromised.

  • We will continue to send important emails only from our official Scootboot email addresses.

  • Our team is here to help if anything looks suspicious!
