Scoot Boot Reins supreme in horse welfare

Reining, a beloved equestrian sport for many, has often been controversial due to concerns about horse welfare. Some appreciate its artistry and skill while others view it less favourably. In this delicate landscape, Scoot Boot has chosen to extend a helping hand to reining horses, demonstrating a commitment to horse welfare that goes beyond the arena. In reining, sliders, or iron shoes, are worn on the hind hooves of horses to maximise slide when they come to a stop. The use of sliders has been a subject of debate and concern among horse lovers. Scoot Boots are not just a solution for everyday hoof protection and comfort. They also provide an innovative solution for the daily improvement of reining horses' lives. Our Scoot Boots are the only hoof boot on the market that can fit over sliders due to its open heel, allowing the slider to fit through. With Scoot Boots, reigning horses no longer need to be confined to stables between competitions. Scoot Boots ensure that reining horses have the traction they need during exercise and turnout. But Scoot Boots are not recommended over iron shoes?

This is true; boots over shoes can impede the horse's ability to feel the terrain, and our commitment to promoting the benefits of barefoot is unwavering. The benefits of a horse enjoying turnout is also crucial to its welfare.

CEO and Co-Founder Annette Kaitinis says: " The welfare of all horses around the globe is close to my heart and immensely important. Horses that do not have access to turnout and are stabled 24/7 is no life! If we can make a positive impact in this aspect and any aspect of improving the daily lives of all horses, I am committed to making this happen. This is why we offer our product as a viable solution to reining horses and their owners."

How to size reiners.

Sliders are always used for the rear hoof, many horse have lower heels so often the regular Scoot Boots won't fit as the heel bulb strap sits too low. With a slider the Scoot Boot heel bulb strap is jacked up and fits perfectly into place on the heel bulbs. The thickness of

the sliders will not impact size needed.

Annette’s recommendations - I have found that the size of the slider corresponds with the size of the Scoots. The horses that I fitted at Scoot Burnett's place all had size 2 sliders and size 2 Scoot Boot Regulars fitted perfectly. We remotely fitted these horses all wearing sliders and Steph our sizing expert was spot on with the sizes she recommended. I think if you were to size with sliders off you may get the wrong size and will be too small. We recommend in this instance sizing with sliders on.

Barcodes

We have heard the feedback from our stockists regarding the need for barcodes and we are pleased to announce we are implementing them soon. Our factory is currently in the process of adding barcodes to all newly produced Scoot Boot products.

2023 roundup

As we say goodbye to 2023, the team at Scoot Boot thanks you for being part of the Scoot Boot family and for your dedication to helping horses, mules, and ponies live their best lives barefoot. This year brought exciting developments, including a global mule search, Enduro size expansion, a new Hybrid Gaiter, limited Marine Mud Straps, and the Scoot Boot Media page launch. We also initiated the Trail Heroes program, held a PHCP Scoot Boot Webinar, and our Co-founder and CEO, Annette, spoke about barefoot hoof care on ABC Radio. In the spirit of giving back, we supported over 50 charities and sports clubs and expanded globally, welcoming new Stockists in Portugal, Greece, Italy, Bulgaria, and Russia. We sponsored FEI-level riders like Julien Anquetin and James Arkins and showcased our innovations at Equita Lyon, CEHCAC Canada, and BFBA events. As we reflect on these achievements, we're excited about the journey ahead with your continued support. Thank you, and here's to another year of thriving together. Wishing you and your equine companions a joyful holiday season and a prosperous New Year!
